The only wrinkle was that the Orc thrower made it unclear that Orcs weren't supposed to be throwing (plus that the full rosters didn't quite mirror each other due to the Goblins and, in 3rd ed, the Troll). Orcs and Humans used to introduce the rules with block, dodge, reroll skills and strength differentials. It's especially apparent from the 'starter, but not really' boxes SG tends to receive. It's 100% current GW style to leave new players out though. A series of nested D66 tables to establish what happens when a treeman is crowd pushed from an endzone wouldn't change any games but it would be a huge mistake to include. There's no defence for finicky special rules that don't even do anything.
